Michigan, Is it too late to plant flowers that'll bloom in fall?

I just moved to a new place and wanted to plant some flowers right now... It is August.... anyone know??Michigan, Is it too late to plant flowers that'll bloom in fall?
it's a bit late for starting anything from seeds...

But your garden centers and nurseries should be have plenty of fall-blooming flowers on hand. Mums, and aster bloom specificly in the fall, and the other flowers which start blooming in the summer but continue blooming until frost, like knock out roses, black eyed susans, and whatnot. Go see what's available.Michigan, Is it too late to plant flowers that'll bloom in fall?
Not from seed, but there should be a variety of mums, asters and other flowing plants available at the local garden center. They come in a wide variety of colors and shapes and are quite hardy - they will withstand a mild frost and will flower until the first killing frost. They are annuals, however. In September you might want to plant bulbs that will flower in the Spring, like tulips, daffodils etc. There's nothing better after a cold, dark, long Winter than to see the spring flowers start to sprout.
I dont think now is the time for ';fall'; planting. Now you plant for ';spring flowers. You can tho purchace ';garden mums'; and plant them, as they will stay flowered for awhile, and if your lucky will come back and bloom again and again in the fall season.
Pansies and asters are fall flowers and will bloom until they freeze.
You could try, but I wouldn't spend a lot on them. Try putting them on the south side of the house, where they'll get the max. sun.
