Flowers bloom and smell when they have the best chance of being pollinated. The flowers do not bloom and smell for your pleasure. They do it to attract bee, wasps, or whatever can or will carry their pollen to the other flowers of their species. It would seem that you can flowers that are serviced by early rising bees or possibly some other night insect or small creature. Some large flowers even depend on bats and other rodents to spread their pollen. Check with your local garden shop for flowers that are serviced by day.Why do most flowers (at least in my backyard) bloom and smell only at night?
its not that hot in the evening some flowers pollenate at different times
Flowers Bloom usually at night when they are not fighting the heat of the day. They however, smell the same during the day. For a more fragrant plant fertilizer of a consistency of 10-12-10 would be a good idea.
