I wonder if you can even get andouille outside of Louisiana. I know that if you buy it online from Savoie's they will ship it to you. When I lived in Florida I could never find andouille at major grocery stores so I don't know why the chick below me would give me a thumbs down.
http://www.savoiesfoods.com/Where in greenville, sc can I buy Andouille sausage? do grocery stores like bloom have it?
If you have a Trader Joe's or a Whole Foods or Chops Cajun Foods.

Peonies bud good but very few bloom,Why?
Peonies are not very picky. They are very adaptable and with enough sun and water will grow almost anywhere.
It is a myth that ants are necessary to permit peonies to bloom.
Several causes for failure of peonies to bloom satisfactorily are: too deep planting, the variety, diseases (such as botrytis and viruses) and insects (thrips), immature plants, excess nitrogen, inadequate sunlight, overcrowding, nutrient deficiency, competition from roots of nearby plants or late freezes. Some cultivars will fail to bloom in zones 8 and 9 because they lack sufficient winter chilling.
If your peonies have been planted too deep, you may hurry along the flowering time by resetting them, but if they have been in place several years, they may be nearly ready to bloom since the plant ';lifts'; itself a little each year as it grows.
A few varieties of peonies are noted for their poor flower production. These may develop large buds that expand but refuse to open if weather is not perfect. Such varieties should be discarded.
Shade from buildings or trees may result in weak plants that fail to produce flowers or may bloom sparsely. If this is the problem, select a new site in full sun. Shade that did not exist at planting time could develop over a 20 year period, gradually creating problems with reduced blooms over the past few years.
Botrytis blight is caused by a fungus that over-winters on dead peony leaves, stems and roots. The easiest control is sanitation by completely removing the plant tops (bury or burn them) in September or October.
Some virus diseases may stunt and deform the growth of your peonies and cause a gradual decline. Each year the plant becomes shorter, somewhat discolored, and may fail to bloom. Remove such plants and destroy them.
Certain insects such as thrips can cause flowers to become deformed and not open. Apply the appropriate insecticide if thrip activity is noted, following label in structions.Peonies bud good but very few bloom,Why?
my mom has row of them (10-12)in her yard that were there when we moved in 17yrs ago and no one has ever done anything but mow them over when they die in the fall. the only thing i can say is that may just need sun. seriously they take care of themselves as long as the roots aren't harmed. Peonies bud good but very few bloom,Why?
They have to have the perfect atmosphere, temperature, etc... No joke, they are very sensitive and any slight disturbance can affect the blossoming. Good Luck though!
They may be newly transplanted, or too old. They may not have enough ant activity, or poor soil. Good luck--peonies are my FAVES!!!
Also, hard frost may hurt blooming, as does drought or too MUCH rain.
Its the small ants that cluster and congregate on the flower before it actually blooms. These ants and the peonies share a symbiotic relationship. I hope your not wiping or spraying those ants off the plant. The ants go hand and hand or shall I say petal to petal with the plant.
I like ponies too. Maybe I'll get that instead of a munkee.
I had the same problem and discovered they were not getting enough sun. I transplanted them in a place where it was sunny all day and got tons of beautiful blooms.

Why won't my Honeysuckle bush bloom?
I live in Northern California were we have mild winters and hot summers. I have had a Honeysuckle bush which has flourished in size over the past 2 years, but has never blossomed the entire time I have had it. It is supposed to get orange blossoms. Is this a common problem with honeysuckles? any ideas why it is not blooming? Why won't my Honeysuckle bush bloom?
Uh-oh... -I think our Honeysuckle bushes are related! I have one that's 6 years old %26amp; it's never bloomed. I attribute this to it not getting enough direct sun... -Rather a surprise, considering I live in AZ, %26amp; the one thing we get too MUCH of- is sunshine. But, it's on the N. side of my apt.- under a larger tree, so I suspect that's what the problem is...-%26amp; may be yours, as well. Most flowering bushes like several hours of direct sun a day, %26amp; if they don't get it- they just get alot of leaves %26amp; no blossoms. :(Why won't my Honeysuckle bush bloom?

Last year was the first year when I did not feed it with a proprietary brand of plant food. I just thought it was bound to burst into bloom. Feed the plant and cut back some of the latest growth and it should come into bloom. Good luck!!asp hosting

I am growing fresh catnip for my cat. It is starting to bloom now. What is the next step?
catnip is a perennial meaning it will come back every year....if you live i an area that gets frost before the 1st frost cut the catnip a couple inches above ground level...put the stalks with leaves on a screen to dry..after it has dried out...around a couple weeks or so crumble the leaves up and store in air tight bags.
you can also cut off stalks here and there during the growing season and follow directions above for drying...that way you will have a continuous supply of fresh catnip for your cat
when drying make sure you put the catnip is a place that the cat cannot get to or he/she will drag the plant off and have a field day...my 2 cats did this last year and i found it behind the couch all over the place..lol....took a good bit if vacuuming to get all the mashed leaves upI am growing fresh catnip for my cat. It is starting to bloom now. What is the next step?
Introduce your cat the the plant. With my cat... she wasn't interested in plain catnip, but once I crushed it between my fingers, she went crazy.
My dad's cat sleeps on his catnip garden!I am growing fresh catnip for my cat. It is starting to bloom now. What is the next step?
Put a cage around the catnip plants.
Cats have been known to completely destroy catnip beds...
Let it bloom, let some of the flowers dry, save some seeds, share some of the dried leaves and dried flowers with your cat.
Give some to the cat?

When do water lily's bloom?
We recently move into an area with wetlands nearby. There are water lily's there and I would love to photograph them. Can anyone tell me a time frame of when to expect blooms in southeastern Michigan? When do water lily's bloom?
The best answer I could find was ';from June through September,'; and I ran across a forum stating water lilies were blooming in Toronto in mid-June. You should make a habit of visiting the wetlands often so you know when the plants begin to bloom. Your wild lilies may not conform to the same timetable as those found in parks and botanical gardens.

How much sun and water does a hibiscus need to bloom?
hibiscus plants are native to Hawaii. So a lot of water is needed. If you live in a dry as a bone area, I will tell you right now it will not live long. I used to live in Texas and I had a hibiscus plant, I loved it. Where I lived I didn't need to water them too much. I lived in a humid near the beach area. The plant needs full sun. Since Hawaii is near the Equator and get a lot of sun. Unless you live in a far south place, it needs full sun.How much sun and water does a hibiscus need to bloom?

Peonies When will they bloom?
We planted peonies last year, we thought we had lost all of the 4 plants we planted, but low and behold this year they are growing quite well. They are now about 12 or more inches in height. My question is will we get flowers this year? Thank You. JeanPeonies When will they bloom?
Mine (in Tennessee) are blooming right now. Peonies take a couple or three years to mature enough to flower. The fact that they are growing is a good thing. Maybe next year.Peonies When will they bloom?
Peonies can take up to 8 years to bloom!
I have one in my yard that just bloomed last year. I have been in the house for 7 years and its the first time I have seen a bloom.
they take a LONG time to settle in... I like it, it prevents me from taking them for granted that is for sure
Peonies are long-lived, perennial flowers that produce large flowers in the spring. Colors include black, coral, cream, crimson, pink, purple, rose, scarlet, white, and yellow. By planting early, mid-season, and late flowering cultivars, you can have peonies flowering for 6 to 8 weeks. Two types of peonies are grown in North Carolina: garden peonies (Paeonia valbiflora or Paeonia officinalis) and tree peonies (Paeonia suffruticosa). Garden peonies are herbaceous perennials (height 20 to 36 inches) grouped into five types according to flower shape: single, semidouble, double, Japanese, and anemone. Tree peonies produce large numbers of flowers on a shrub-like plant; the stems do not die back each year.
Cultivars
Peonies grow best in cool climates. Some mail order catalogs provide a rating range from 100 to 300 chilling hours per winter for cultivars. Select cultivars with a low chilling requirement. In general, most of the newer peony cultivars do not perform well in the south because they were bred and selected in northern nurseries and do not receive an adequate amount of cold weather in North Carolina. Many of the older cultivars perform reasonably well in North Carolina including: Baroness Schroeder (white), Felix Crousse (red), Festiva Maxima (white double with a crimson center), Felix Supreme (raspberry), Mons. Jules Elie (medium pink double), Sarah Bernhardt (apple blossom pink), and Teresa (pink).
Site Requirements
Peonies grow best in full sun, but will tolerate light shade. Peonies require winter cold to flower. To encourage flowering, plant on a northern exposure and do not mulch in the winter. Flower size will decrease due to root competition from nearby trees and shrubs. The planting site should have protection from strong winds, but be well aerated to reduce diseases problems. Peonies prefer a well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Roots will quickly rot in poorly drained soil; consider planting in a raised bed. Try to avoid locations where peonies have been grown before.
Planting
The best time to plant peonies is in early fall 鈥?September and October are ideal. If planted in the spring, they may not bloom for a year or two. Purchase divisions containing 3 to 4 ';eyes';; divisions with only one or two eyes normally take 3 to 5 years to flower. Be sure the divisions are free from rot when they are planted. Trim away any soft spots with a sharp knife.
Dig a hole 12 to 18 inches deep and 18 inches wide, spacing holes 3 to 4 feet apart. Incorporate a 2- to 4-inch layer of organic matter such as compost, pine bark, or well-aged manure. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of 10-10-10 fertilizer per plant in the bottom of the hole. Avoid adding fertilizer to soil that will surround the roots. Many gardeners add a half cup of bone meal or superphosphate at planting. Remember peonies are a more or less permanent plants in the garden and they are deep rooted; the only time you can properly prepare the soil is prior to planting.
Fill the hole about half full of amended soil then place the root division with the eyes facing upward. After the division is in place, work the soil in around the fleshy roots. Be sure the ';eyes'; will not be more than 2 inches below the soil surface when backfilling is completed. If planted in September, the clumps should be partially established before severe cold weather occurs.
Plant a tree peony tuber with 4 to 5 inches of soil covering the graft. The graft can be recognized by the ridge on the stem and a difference in bark texture. Deep planting allows the graft to develop its own root system.
Care and Maintenance
Mulch peonies each spring with a 2- to 3-inch layer of organic matter to control weeds, conserve moisture and to keep the soil cool. In the fall, remove and destroy the old mulch to aid disease control. Leave the plants unmulched during the winter. Maintain adequate phosphorus levels in the soil for healthy, vigorous root development and growth. Soil test every 3 years to monitor for essential nutrients.
Apply a low nitrogen fertilizer such as 5-10-10 at the rate of 2 to 3 lb per 100 ft2 (2 Tbsp per ft2 1/2 cup per plant) in the spring when the stems are about 2 or 3 inches high. Over-fertilization, especially with nitrogen, usually results in weak stems and reduced flowering.
To produce larger flowers, a practice known as disbudding is recommended. The terminal bud on each stem tip is left and all side buds are removed. This should be done as soon as the buds are visible. To prevent the large flowers from breaking or bending over during a strong wind or rain, plants should be staked. Sink the stake behind the plant and use stakes that are 6 to 12 inches shorter than the plants so they will not be visible. Loosely tie the stems to the stake using plastic covered wire or a soft cloth. Tie the stems, making a double loop, with one loop around the plant and the other around the stake.
Remove flowers as soon as they fade to prevent seed development, which can use up needed food reserves. The faded flower should be removed just below the flower, leaving as much foliage as possible. Cutting flowers for enjoyment in the home can also reduce the flowering in future years. Do not cut more than one-third to one-half of the flowers for cut flowers and leave as much foliage as possible on the plant.
In the fall, after a heavy frost, remove and destroy the stems of garden peonies down to 3 inches from the soil surface to eliminate the possibility of the fungal diseases overwintering. Tree peonies should not be cut back in the fall.
Peonies do not respond well to transplanting and reestablish slowly. Divide and replant only after they become crowded 鈥?usually after 10 to 15 years. Fall is the best time to divide when swollen, red buds are clearly visible. Carefully dig around and under the plant to avoid cutting off roots. Cut tubers with a sharp knife that has been sterilized with a flame or in alcohol. Each section should contain 3 to 5 eyes. Dust cut surfaces with fungicide to discourage disease infection and rot.
Potential Problems
No flowers 鈥?Peonies that were started with small tubers or were recently transplanted (especially in the spring) may fail to develop flowers for several years. Planting the tubers more than 2 inches deep or in a shady or poorly drained location can also prevent or reduce flowering. Other possibilities include tree and shrub root competition and late spring frosts.
Botrytis blight 鈥?This is caused by a fungus that overwinters on dead leaves, stems, and roots. The diseases usually appears in mid-summer, especially during cool, wet weather. Black, soft buds and wilted or soft stem tissue under the buds are usually an indication that botrytis blight is present. For control, remove diseased foliage that develops during the growing season and cut plants to the ground after a killing frost and destroy the foliage.
Phytophthora blight 鈥?This is less common than botrytis blight but can be more devastating. Black leathery spots fist occur on the buds. Stems dry up turning brown and leathery; plants may rot at the ground line or crown. Control measures recommended for botrytis blight should be followed.
Leaf spots 鈥?Several fungi can cause leaf spots on peonies. Leaf blotch is a disease that usually occurs after flowering. Infected plants have small red or reddish-brown spots that later enlarge into purplish-brown blotches on the leaf surface. Destroy affected foliage as it occurs and all foliage after a killing frost.
Virus 鈥?Mosaic virus produces yellowish blotches and rings on the foliage. Infected plants are not dwarfed or deformed. Destroy infected plants to prevent spread.
Ants 鈥?Ants often will feed on the sweet, sticky secretion which covers the flower buds. Very little direct damage results from their feeding.
You may get a few but it is my understanding it takes 3 years for them to mature after a replanting. I also planted some last fall and am anxious to see what I get! Good luck!asp hosting

Good luck!

Do pink oleanders bloom every year?
I planted some last year about this time while they were in bloom but there are no blooms this year.Do pink oleanders bloom every year?
I have 6 in the front yard as a border and they bloom annually and are in bloom presently. BUT, I have 2 in the back yard and neither bloom annually and in fact haven't done so yet this year OR last year either.Do pink oleanders bloom every year?
They SHOULD bloom every year. Sometimes young plants (just planted last year) may not bloom right away. One thing you can try is a fertilizer with high Phosphorous (middle number), such as Fertilome Blooming and Rooting 9-59-8 water soluble fertilizer. This will help force flowers.

What time of the year do rose bushes bloom?
Depends on the species, I have a bush rose that is in full bloom right now, and I have some hybrid teas that haven't started yet, but when they do they will bloom till frost. What time of the year do rose bushes bloom?
How do I rate people's answers? I just joined this %26amp; is that something I am supposed to do? Report Abuse
What time of the year do rose bushes bloom?
Well, they should be leafing out buy now, even if you are in a colder climate, as I say here in Georgia some of mine are in full bloom, if you only have sticks that isn't a good sign. I prune mine in late winter, before the buds begin to swell, before they leaf out. Report Abuse
Here I prune mine back around the end of February, then my hybrid teas are pruned throughout the summer to keep them blooming, bush roses I only prune in late winter. Pruning encourages new growth, you don't want to encourage new growth in the fall, I always prune when they are fully dormant. Report Abuse
They may have been hit by the cold, hybrid teas are often very susceptible to freezing in colder climates, either that or it is possible they were pruned back too far or too early. Report Abuse
If you are in a colder climate, give them a little more time, maybe they will put out some growth, but if the stems are brown all the way to the base then I doubt they will. If you have hybrid teas you will see a ';knot'; near ground level, Report Abuse
many times what happens is that the top will die and the rootstock will live, the rootstock is usually hardier, if this is the case you may see new shoots coming from below the ';knot'; (which is where they are grafted) Report Abuse
the rootstock is usually not a desirable species, they are usually a white dog rose, a running variety Report Abuse
Early spring to early summer....in my area...
spring and summer- winter pruning will aid the blooming and growth!!
Spring to fall and all in between.
Mine are budded right now and color starting to show.

Are the rumours of Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom dropping out of Pirates 4 true?
If they really are going to make a 4th one, then yes I think they are, because there's not much you can further make out of that couple and Orlando Bloom has definitely for sure stated that he won't be doing any huge action blockbusters anymore.

can't read or write or spell lyrics and scripts? It says many people who have dyslexia have become famous like orlando bloom %26amp; gwen stefani. But how if they?
People with dyslexia are not illiterate, we just have to learn how our dyslexia affects us, then learn how to manage and adapt coping strategies, when we have to read, write or spell.
There is adaptive technology which can assist with reading writing and spelling.
I have dyslexia, and a qualified Youth %26amp; Disability support worker. I have learnt how my dyslexia affects my ability to learn, read etc, and found other ways of coping and managing to read and write. I use a computer for writing, and rely heavily on spell check, to ensure I have spelt my words correctly, and I have not mixed up words like where, were etc.
I take my time to read books and assignments, and again use a dictionary if I am unsure of a words meaning. My biggest problem is missing the smaller words, commas, full stops etc, which means I can misinterpret a sentence or question, especially when on white paper, (if on cream paper, I can read much better, and faster, I also don't miss things).
There is also a computer programs that will type and read documents for you, such as Dragon naturally speaking, which my daughter swears by, (she is dyslexic too).It says many people who have dyslexia have become famous like orlando bloom %26amp; gwen stefani. But how if they?
They can read %26amp; write, they just have a difficult time doing it in school the way schools want it done. Dyslexic people tend to be very creative and visual thinkers.

Dyslexia is any disorder due to reading. Just because they have a disorder with reading, doesnt mean they cant read. Many of them develop ';tricks'; to assist them in reading. Dysgraphia (disorders of writing) isnt always found in dyslexics.
As said dyslexia does not mean you cannot learn to read and write, my own son is dyslexic and took and passed English at A level.

dyslexia dosent mean they can't read, write or spell....it just means they have a hard time seeing words/letters the same way we do(exp. maybe reversed or upside down)...and people do overcome it most often to not.
Don't confuse dyslexia with being illiterate! Many people with dyslexia can learn and earn above average grades in school with the right teaching.

Is this true? Johnny Depp tried to kiss Orlando Bloom during POTC?
I found this in an old Swedish magazine. It's not exactly the most reliable source. (Yeah, I've translated it):
The actor Johnny Depp was constantly trying to make out with Orlando Bloom during the shooting of the movie ';Pirates of the Caribbean';.

How quickly does Black eyed susan spread and how long and when generally do they bloom?
The specific cultivar is called : ';Rudbeckia';

People told Susan to leave her pimp! Oh, well. Anyway, I've heard she spreads very quickly, and when she's paid well, it lasts a long time. She'll be in full bloom after 9 months, and after the birth, will name the child Rudolph or Rebecca. If it's a hermaphrodite, Rudbeckia. I'm sorry we're so silly in P%26amp;S, but I believe Home%26amp;Garden will be better-suited for this question.
We call them Black Eyes Susie, mine are spreading very well at the moment, they tend to bloom from May to September generally but with the weather as it has been over the last couple of years they last longer than usual.
Better bring protection!!

April 2006 - as reported by the MIRROR: Pirates Of The Caribbean hunk Orlando Bloom, 29, and his girlfriend Kate Bosworth, 23, looked ecstatic as they turned up for a bash by posh watch company IWC Schaffhausen in Genf, Switzerland, on Tuesday.

I have an orchid which is in bloom and...?
It is getting to big for the planter that I have it in how would I replant it? Should I wait for it to lose the flowers? How bigger of a planter should it go into? Please help me...I have an orchid which is in bloom and...?
If you really want to transplant it you should wait until it is finished blooming. Transplant into a pot one size larger than the current pot and be sure to use orchid potting medium, not regular potting soil. I have a few orchids and I have never transplanted them and they are doing fine.I have an orchid which is in bloom and...?
What type? I've been growing orchids for six years, and I really can't tell you whether to repot it and how unless I know what kind it is. If it's a Dendrobium, leave it alone. If it's a Cattleya relative, don't repot it unless the rhizome goes over the edge of the pot. A Phalaenopsis will want repotting, they do tend to like a little elbow room.
Get the right type of mix for your orchid: a fine bark for one with skinny roots, coarse bark for one with fat roots, and terrestrial mix for one with brown furry roots. Put some pebbles, broken ceramic pieces, or even styrofoam peanuts in the bottom of the new pot for drainage. Remove all the old mix from your orchid, trim off any dead roots, then hold it level in a slightly bigger pot with one hand while you fill in mix with the other hand. Make sure the mix is well packed. Write the date on the orchid's tag--if it doesn't have a tag, get one to write the date on. That way you'll know when it was last repotted several years down the line, and you'll know approximatley when it needs to be repotted again.
Orchids like being crouded. Unless you see roots coming out of the bottom or sides of the pot leave it alone. If you do see roots, wait until the bloom has faded then repot in a container twice the present one's size. Use bark or soil specific for epiphytes not regular potting soil. good luck

Why won't my magnolia tree bloom?
it is a minature and 7 years oldWhy won't my magnolia tree bloom?
My Magnolia is about 15 years old and had only a few blooms on it this year. Other years there were tons. I'm told it was because we had some very warm weather very early, then it got cold and stayed cold a fair amount of time. It's like the tree was tricked into thinking it was spring so it tried to bloom and they were killed by the cold. Just a thought to consider depending on what part of the country your in.Why won't my magnolia tree bloom?
r u giving it the right attention..maybe its not a magnolia tree..
ur not holding ur mouth right! give it some bloom booster, and it might bloom when it's next turn comes around!
My experience tells me you need to pore beer on it
Sometimes it can take between 8-15 years for a magnolia tree to bloom. You may want to try fertilizing the tree, and having the soil tested to make sure it isn't lacking any essential nutrient.
It's usually an early bloom time, even when there is still frost, but if you are in zone 7, it might only go every 3 years.

Do daffodils need 4 seasons in which to grow and bloom?
The answer is most definitely yes. All plants that are perennials need four season to continue to live. Dafodills are no different.Do daffodils need 4 seasons in which to grow and bloom?
No. They will bloom after chilling, regardless of when they are planted. You can do it in the fridge if you don't want to plant them outside.Do daffodils need 4 seasons in which to grow and bloom?

How long do mimosa's usally stay in bloom?
I have 2 Mimosa trees in my yard in N. California. Mine also bloom for about 1/12 to two months. However, this is a VERY messy tree!!! You need to plant it somewhere where you don't mind all the litter. Definitely NOT near a patio or pool!!
The BEST place to plant a Mimosa would be on a hillside below a deck or patio. Then you could see the beautiful blooms from the top and not see any of the litter underneath!!How long do mimosa's usally stay in bloom?
In our neck of the woods (N.Calif.) they bloom for 1 to 1 1/2 months. The warmer the weather, the shorter the bloom time. How long do mimosa's usally stay in bloom?
A month to two in Tennessee
In the NYC area they are in bloom no longer than 3 weeks at a time.
That's why you have to enjoy them when they do.

Silk Mimosa Trees are beautiful BUT they make a mess in my yard, pool, etc. Can anything be done to stop bloom
Indeed a poor choice at poolside. Most trees that are removed are due to poor selection. The blooms of the Mimosa are precisely why they are planted. There really is nothing you can do to stop them. Either remove the tree or try to focus on enjoying the flowers while they are in season.asp hosting

Why won't my Trumpet plant bloom and do you trim it all down in the fall?
I have never trimed my trumpets and it took mine 2 1/2 yrs to bloom not sure why they take so long. I have had them now for 4 years and they are gorgeous. Why won't my Trumpet plant bloom and do you trim it all down in the fall?
It won't bloom 'cos you've got a duff plant! Why won't my Trumpet plant bloom and do you trim it all down in the fall?
Does it have enough sunlight? Or is it in partial shade? This article might assist you. I trimmed mine back in the fall and they bloomed profusely.
Trumpet Creeper, Campsis radicans, is a native vine found in nearly the entire breeding range of the Ruby-throated Hummingbird. Robust and aggressive, it is best planted at the base of a fence or tree where it can be trimmed back. With support, it can grow 20m high with a main vine nearly 15cm in diameter. Flowers occur on new growth each summer, from June through September in the Carolinas; the growing season is shorter to the north, slightly longer in the southern U.S. Trumpet Creeper blooms profusely in full sun, less so in partial shade.
Trumpet Creeper, also called ';Cow-Itch'; because it causes mild dermatitis in some people, can be purchased from native plant dealers; cultivars in yellow or deep red are available from garden nurseries. It may be transplanted from roadside areas where it is likely to be cut or sprayed by highway crews, or can be grown from its winged seeds (right), collected in early fall from a long brown pod. Although some folks consider this plant a weed, it is a VERY valuable native hummingbird flower.
Trumpet Creeper, Campsis radicans

CULTIVATION TIPS
Perennial deciduous vine (to 20m with support)
Blooms early summer to early autumn, on new growth
Average well-drained soil Full sun provides best blooming
Zones 4-9
Many here in the south cut them down in the late fall and mulch them. They return in the spring. I have just planted 2 so I'm glad to know it might take a while to bloom.
I have heard that in certain areas it will take up to 7 yrs to bloom.Ihave an orange trumpet vine and it didnt bloom for about 4 yrs but now it looks really good

How do you make a cactus bloom?
The major factor is to make sure it gets a lot of sun and not too much feeding. Keep it moist in the summer, put it outside where it can get maximum sun. In winter bring it in and don't water it too much - once a month should be OK.
These plants come from very sunny and dry places so they need as near as possible their natural conditions. How do you make a cactus bloom?
Depends on the type of cactus it is...some only bloom once in 100 years! Truly! Your average cactus will bloom up to ten years later from when first planted as a teeny one. They are slow growers so don't hold your breath.
I have had one for 5 years and am still waiting, knowing full well it will; be another 5 years. That is just the species it is. Yours might flower earlier or later. Some do flower every year, but as the other answer said, you do need the right conditions.

Why won't my hydrangea plant bloom?
Pruning after August will do it. I would not prune them at all this year...............
Lack of sun will also do it. I have some in total shade and had to move them and then they bloomed.
Morning sun is best as the hot afternoon sun will make them wilt and use more water

We are planning a return trip to SF next year & want to know what month do the palm trees bloom with greenery.?
and is Laurel Inn in Pacific Heights a nice place to stay? Does this Inn have a scenic view of GG Bridge? We are planning a return trip to SF next year %26amp; want to know what month do the palm trees bloom with greenery.?
Palm trees always have foliage. If what you saw really were palm trees, then you may have caught them when the fronds were cut back for regualr maintainence.
Palm trees are NOT native to anywhere in California, but you see them, virtually, EVERYWHERE in the state. They do very well with proper maintainence. We are planning a return trip to SF next year %26amp; want to know what month do the palm trees bloom with greenery.?
I don't think palms actually have any noticeable seasonal growth, not from what I've seen at least, not like deciduous trees that will change colors and lose their leaves. However, since you mention February, that would be during the 'weather season' (I wouldn't really call it a winter), and palms can get pretty beat up on a windy day, so it's possible you caught them after a few storms had stripped them.
you should try to come in the summer, that way you can see the famous fog, if you want greenery, then may would be nice because later on in the summer, things turn golden brown
If I'm not mistaken, palm trees (at least the ones we can grow here in the Bay Area) look the same all year round.asp hosting

Plants that are started indoors and transplanted outside in May flower in the early summer, as do plants that self-seeded or were planted from seed the year before (1). Flowers for bouquets should be cut before all the buds are open.

Where can I find a list of when certain bulbs bloom?
When bulbs bloom, as in a calandar date, will very much depend on WHERE they are growing. Spring comes earlier in the South, and moves North over a period of weeks. So the same variety of bulb may bloom 4-6 weeks earlier in Zone 8 than it does in Zone 4 or 5.
Crocuses and Snowdrops appear first. In late winter (Around here, late February into early March). Daffodils generally come in early spring. Tulips come early, middle and late spring, depending on the type - there are lots of varieties of each.
That should get you going.Where can I find a list of when certain bulbs bloom?
I buy bulbs from a company called ';Brecks of Holland.'; They have a very extensive website that should answer your questions. They have fabulous bulbs, if you're looking.

Why are my orchids buds drying up before they bloom?
I had a bud that dried up and dropped after I received it. I had stuck it in my terrarium and was later told that they sometimes drop buds when they experience a change in environment or have recently been shipped across the country. Thankfully, the spike finished developing and bloomed for me. If you've recently purchased it, it might just need some time to adjust. Here's some info from a good website... this might help you out if you've owned the orchid for a long time and have not recently purchased it. Goodluck!
From http://www.wickfordorchids.com/orchid_bu鈥?/a>
1. Low Humidity
Since many orchid owners have plants that bloom in the winter, I would suspect low humidity as the culprit. During the colder seasons we turn up the heat not only to warm ourselves but also our plants. A very noble deed! But as the air warms, the moisture is lost and general humidity drops. Although you and I may not realize it, the plants do... and if the air dries out enough - bud blast. Not to mention the sudden upswing in temperature which again may result in bud blast. Solution: Make a humidity tray large enough to accommodate the entire plant, leaves included, not just the pot.
2. Poor Root System
Another situation conducive for bud drop comes with a more subtle causative - and that is: poor root systems. This may come as a surprise to many, so let me explain the relationship. Developing buds that are actively growing, and enlarging flowers require a certain amount of nourishment and energy. They do indeed receive much of this from the storage capacity of pseudobulbs (and to an extent, leaves) but what supplies them? - Correct. the roots! Poor roots = poor flowering and bud drop. Make a special effort to develop the best root system possible through good culture. Your reason for growing orchids will be richly rewarded. Why are my orchids buds drying up before they bloom?
How are you watering your orchids?
If you are not soaking the bark for 15 minutes once a week; then your orchids are probably not getting enough water; or do you have them in direct sunlight; maybe they are 'burning' from too much light.

Jeremy bloom a starter for the pittsburgh steelers?
anyone else think that would be a good idea, at least for punt and kick returnsJeremy bloom a starter for the pittsburgh steelers?
jeremy bloom is good he is very fast an he has god hands but i dont think they will start him @ WR cause he rele hasnt proven if he could be a starter an besides he wont beat out hinez and holmes but they could start him @ KR/PR he would get them good starting yardageJeremy bloom a starter for the pittsburgh steelers?
Well...My Eagles thought he was a good idea...and held on to him for about a year and a half while he was injured....Then he got healthy and was released b/c he did not produce or 'sucked' for lack of a better word! But, if your Steelers are really desparate for a returner, I would say there are better players to chose from than Jeremy Bloom!
He sucks. He averaged like 19 yards a kickoff return when he played for the Eagles. It would be better to let it roll into the endzone; you'd get the same yards(or it could bounce out of bounds) without the chance of Bloom fumbling.
wat ever happened to jeremy bloom?

Why won't my Jossee Lilac bloom?
I planted it about 2 years ago, has healthy foliage, given high phos. fertilizer regularly, but has never flowered. I live in S.E. Michigan (zone 5). Please help. Why won't my Jossee Lilac bloom?
Lilac take time to settle down. I planted a few in my yard, and it finally bloomed after 2 years. Keep watering, but don't give them too much fertilizer. Lilac likes acidity in the soil, so if you do give them a food, make sure it's for acid loving plants. Don't give up! Just let it grow naturally for a while and be patient...

When the flower fails to bloom, how do you nurture it?
When the rose buds fail to open and bloom I dry them....so they maintain their beauty indefinitely...
Always a modest, demur bud, with the promise of opening, the promise of future fullness...and these dried unopened buds have a beauty of their own that equals the full blown open rose flower.....and I nurture it by always admiring its subtle soft loveliness.....When the flower fails to bloom, how do you nurture it?
In a gardening sense if a flower fails to bloom then basically I won't be able to get it to. There are different reasons this could happen, some unexplainable, just a course nature takes. Your best bet is to observe the plant and see if there is an overriding cause of lack of blooming such as lack of nutrients or water and take care of those needs to build a stronger plant.
In a people sense, people bloom at their own pace and timing. The best way to nurture people is to love them and be there for them to help them along their path. When the flower fails to bloom, how do you nurture it?
I play music.
feed the flower with care and compassion and love.so that it can continue to grow.
Maybe it's just a late bloomer? : )
At times all our best nurturing efforts fail and no flowers bloom. That's the time to give up, I guess. You can do only so much and more efforts will be a waste. Go find another plant and take good care of it, that's my take.
More dung.
I take care of water and fertilizer first, but I also make sure the flower has sufficient light and space to grow. Sometimes this means careful pruning, other times complete transplanting. It's the same with things in life, they get crowded, uncared for, or left in toxic environments. It's not always a matter of bloom where you're planted, life is a more proactive venture. I encourage digging, and I dig life.
change the soil put it in a new place that will be suitable enough water and good soil and good environment.
Perhaps it wasn't nurtured from the start?
I've seen this in relationships. Here is this beautiful plant, (love, whatever), %26amp; by virtue of its beauty, it will simply continue to please. Sometimes, when we notice that it's ';failing,'; it has grown so weak a great deal of nurturing will be needed to restore it, or, it may be too late.
cut it, let others got chance to grow and bloom...basic knowledge learn from farmer!!!!
I talk to it and give it kisses :))))))

I have an Easter lily that is in a pot, can I plant it now to bloom next spring?
A simple answer is yes.Just enjoy it until it's ugly. Then go ahead and plant it. I am in NW ,Ohio. I planted one 3 years ago, and last year I had 9 stems and over 30 blossoms. No mulching, no fertilizer, no nothing.I have an Easter lily that is in a pot, can I plant it now to bloom next spring?
Transplant lilies into the garden after May 15, normally the last frost date. Because roots develop on the stalk, plant the bulb about 2 inches lower than it was growing in the pot. Fertilize monthly with an all-purpose blend according to label directions. Stop fertilizing about mid-August and blooms should follow in a few weeks.
The lily can be planted in a sunny garden spot as soon as danger from frost is past. Remove the plant from the pot by inverting it and while gently holding the top, tap the edge of the pot on a step or heavy board. Open the root ball by pulling upward and out from the center. Clumped and matted roots are more likely to die and even injure the bulb.
Place the bulb a few inches deeper than it was in the pot, open the root as much as possible and work soil through them. Thoroughly water the plant. One half teaspoon of a 10-10-10 fertilizer per gallon helps promote new top and root growth. Soon after the old tops die, new shoots will start. These will flower later, usually in July or August, if given ordinary garden care. Be sure that trees, weeds, or other plants don't shade the lily.
Although many people report good results, none of the lily varieties are reliably hardy. If the ground is well drained, you can cover plants with a mulch during the cold winter months, just as is done for roses. Mulches of straw, leaves, evergreen boughs, wood chips or ground corn cobs are satisfactory. Most of the lilies are killed by exposure to winter winds and sun. Mulches limit the heaving action of the soil and, thus, prevent bulb exposure.

Yes, although it probably won't actually bloom until late spring or early summer. It will also probably not be white, although you might get lucky. I've had them stay white, and I've had them turn orange. Just luck of the draw, I guess.asp hosting

My Rose bush is full of buds. But they never bloom . Why ?
We had that problem a few years ago in my greenhouse....it was thrips.
http://www.ars.org/About_Roses/pests_thr鈥?/a>
I got the info below from the following website....
http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES鈥?/a>
Western flower thrips are primarily pests of herbaceous plants, but high populations occasionally damage continuously or late-blossoming flowers on woody plants such as roses. When thrips populations are high on roses, flower buds may become deformed and fail to open. Petals may be covered with brown streaks and spots. Western flower thrips can also vector certain tospoviruses including impatiens necrotic spot virus and several strains of tomato spotted wilt virus. Some plant-feeding thrips are also predaceous on other pests, such as spider mites. In young cotton seedlings in California, western flower thrips is considered beneficial because it feeds on spider mites. My Rose bush is full of buds. But they never bloom . Why ?
All purpose miracle grow is loaded with nitrogen which is a no no on any plant that is fixing to bloom...Nitrogen is for the foilage not the blooms...Use a miracle grow bloom buster which is way less nitrogen and alot of phospherous and potash..which aids the roots and blooms...Also if you atre watering the roses too much then the blooms are getting what is called ';blossom drop'; and forming then yellowing at the little stem on the bloom and falling off...Over watering and poor drainage causes this...My Rose bush is full of buds. But they never bloom . Why ?
Needs more plant food. Not too much more. Up the dosage a little bit at a time. Try Ortho, Miracle Grow, Bayer, and maybe add a layer of top soil.
Please stay away from Miracle Gro, Ortho and all those leaf-growth enhancers.
You need bone meal, good compost and some Epsom salt. Mine bloom like maniacs and that is all I use! And to control aphids and pests, a simple diluted solution of 10% Murphy's Oil (vegetable based soap) will suffocate them and allow your flowers to bloom.
I also notice that when I have buds that do not open, I have Japanesse beetles feeding on them. The Murphy's Oil will kill them safely too.
Could have many reasons for that; sun exposure, lack of fertiliser, rose diseases, or even the plant has been in the same soil for too long!
Examine the buds wether they carry greenfly, or mildew on them. In which case 3in1 spray for roses which prevents blackspot, mildew, kills greenfly and stimulates new and healthy growth!
In case the leaves grow brownish and yellow You will need some specific fertilisers for rose soil!
The soil have to be replaced for roses in same soil over 8-10 years.
Finally do not forget that the rose loves sunlight; at least 6 hours of exposition to the sun!
Let me know if I was of any help !
Prune the dead ones and they will.

How can I get my hair to look like Orlando Bloom's? (picture included)?
I am currently growing my hair out for the first time and want my hair to resemble Orlando Bloom's. How can achieve this (what products to use, what style, etc.) and can I pull it off? The link below is NOT a virus and thank you everyone!

Do you cut back cold hardy Hibiscus after they bloom?
Not if there is still any bloom still in them. It is always best to wait until after the first freeze to cut any woody perennial back. However, this is not always necessary because most just die back to the ground anyhow.Do you cut back cold hardy Hibiscus after they bloom?
I'm in full agreement with the other poster.
We live in a warm winter zone 7, and we let them die to the ground. If there is anything sticking up, we cut it off to make the yard look nice.

When do tulips bloom?
I live i nIndiana and i was just wondering what time the tulips will bloom. Any answers? When do tulips bloom?
This really depends on the class of tulip you have planted. They are grouped early mid and late season. Tulips that usually bloom in March are considered early flowering, April or early May are considered mid-season while tulips that usually bloom in May are considered late flowering.
Of the early types Single Early Tulips are among the earliest tulips to bloom. Single late tulips bloom in May after all other varieties of tulips. Single lates include some of the most popular varieties. When do tulips bloom?
I live in Kavsas and they were bloming a week ago...but it depends on what your weather is and where you live.
With that really warm spell followed by the week below freezing, you may be out of luck. If they were not frozen, you should at least see some buds by now.
I live in Tacoma, WA, and they are blooming now. I'm not sure how crazy your weather got, but that may be why you haven't seen them yet.
I am in Chicago, they are blooming now. They started when the weather got really warm a couple weeks ago. I also have early spring, mid spring and late spring bulbs I planted -so some were full bloom last week, some are yet to fully bloom.
I live in East Central Illinois, about 45 minutes from Terre Haute. They're already up here and bloomed about 2 weeks ago.

What can you do to cause alilac bush to bloom more. It is over 10 years old.?
Early, annual pruning is one of the most important thing you can do to ensure a healthy lilac and a profusion of blooms the following year. Begin pruning by removing dead or diseased branches. ';Cut suckers and shoots at or near ground level or where it comes out of the main trunk. Leave a few strong and healthy new stalks each year, especially if you are planning to trim back old wood. Trim larger stems from the center of the bush to increase ventilation. It will also afford more room for newer shoots on the outside of the plant to develop. Trim back any branches that stick out from the main bush and are not appealing to you.'; (1) (2)
Rejuvenation pruning can also help prevent problems from lilac borers because this insect pest is attracted to older, woody stems. (3)
Prune early ( right after blooming) to ensure enough time for new growth to set flower buds for next years blooms.
Feeding with compost %26amp; mulching helps. If you want to fertilize, use a 5-10-10 fertilizer or similar product, making sure it is low in nitrogen %26amp; higher in Phosphorus.
Good well-drained garden soil with a pH of 7 is ideal for a lilac. You can improve your soil by adding peat, sand or potting soil. In clay or heavy soil, plant the lilac up on a mound. In highly acidic soil, dig in lime before planting. (4)
Make sure your Lilac is getting enough sunlight, %26amp; is not shaded too much by the branches of adjacent trees.
Here's an interesting tip: ';Try driving a spade into the soil around the base of the plants to cut off some of the roots, but not all. This will cause the plants to be shocked into flowering the following season.'; (5)
You can cut some bouquets of flowers now, just before they fully open, %26amp; you'll not only get to enjoy the fragrance of spring indoors, but will get a head start on pruning.
Hope this helps. I love Lilacs. Good luck! What can you do to cause alilac bush to bloom more. It is over 10 years old.?
Lilacs only bloom on the previous years branches..( not the new spring branches ) , so, if you cut it back.....it may not bloom next spring at all....
but,,,,the year after........you should have many more blooms! What can you do to cause alilac bush to bloom more. It is over 10 years old.?
After flowering, it is best to remove the spent flower panicles before any fruit form, especially on lilacs with large panicles, such as S. vulgaris, S. x hyacinthiflora and S. x reticulata. Flowers that have gone to seed are not very attractive and drain nutrients from the plant. For lilacs with small inflorescences, however, like S. x prestoniae and S. meyeri, this is very labour intensive and probably unnecessary. In general, it is a good opportunity to remove damaged, diseased or poorly angled branches.
Lilacs form flower buds at the tips of branches during the previous growing season. This means that it is important to prune just under the panicles a week or two after the plant has finished blooming
If you prune the branch tips heavily or after the flower buds have formed, you will have fewer blooms next year.
Rejuvenation pruning
Some old, neglected and damaged lilacs can be cut back hard. Such drastic rejuvenation or renewal pruning is used mainly for those species that are especially prone to suckering (S. vulgaris and S. x hyacinthiflora). It involves cutting the shrub back to about 15 to 25 cm above the ground. For grafted lilacs, keep only the stems growing above the graft union. In subsequent years, continue with formative and maintenance pruning as described above. It will take a few years for a lilac to rebloom after drastic rejuvenation pruning.
For species that produce few suckers and form water sprouts on the main branches (e.g. S. x prestoniae), any necessary rejuvenation pruning should be done over a period of two to three years. This will allow you to cut back the main branches gradually.
For best results, plant lilacs in full sun in a well-drained location, away roots of mature trees and follow proper pruning practices. Avoid high nitrogen fertilizers (such as lawn fertilizer), which encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.
Once young shrubs are four to five years old, annual pruning is essential to ensure that you get flowers all over the shrub - not just at the top.
Lilacs should be planted in well drained soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Heavy clay soil should first be amended with compost and sandy loam. Then, when you plant your lilac, add some organic material to the garden soil, in the form of compost or well-decomposed manure. If there is insufficient drainage, plant the lilac in a 30 to 50-cm high raised mound with a wide trench. Make the planting hole twice as large as the root ball. For the best flowers, choose a sunny site (at least 6 hours of sun a day). Fertilize with a product high in phosphorus and potassium in early May. Avoid using fertilizers high in nitrogen, which encourages leafy growth at the expense of blooms.
Good luck to you...Lilacs are my favorite. I'm a horticulturalist in Canada.
you can try lime.lilac bushes love lime .i use it on my dwarf one and it get so many blooms you can hardly see the green leaves.

Why won't my black eyed susan vine bloom I have alot of vines and leaves but no flowers?
Black-eyed Susan vine (Thunbergia alata) will grow in any reasonably rich soil with adequate drainage. Full sun is preferred, except during the summer months, when part-shade and liberal water should be provided. Support the stems and prune densely packed foliage during early spring.Propagate from seed in spring and cuttings in summer. One other thing I have personally experienced is some plants cut back flowering during the summer heat and resume blooming as the days become cooler. Why won't my black eyed susan vine bloom I have alot of vines and leaves but no flowers?
Sometimes when there is too much nitrogen in the soil (ie you are fertilizing every 2 weeks) all flowering plants produce more leaves and less flowers.
You could try fertilizing less. Or use something that is ecologically more kind to the soil (ie compost).
Good luck - happy flowering! Why won't my black eyed susan vine bloom I have alot of vines and leaves but no flowers?
You don't need to fertilize much, but I don't think that is your problem. Actually, you most likely don't have a problem. These vines stop blooming in hot weather. Mine is doing the same right now. As soon as it begins to cool down a bit (September), they should begin blooming like mad again.
I gave mine some plant food to help it bloom better. Do you have it hanging in direct sun? It needs a lot of sun and water. I still can't decide if I like this plant or not. Some days it has lots of blooms and other days it just looks bare.

thank u!What plant takes the shortest time to bloom?
The company Wisconsin Fast Plants has developed cultivars intended for growth experiments so they flower faster than the rest of the relatives like mustard %26amp; radish. They uniformly come to bloom in 14-16 days even under grow lights.

Are the cherry blossoms (sakura) starting to bloom in Japan? I heard its a beautiful sight .....?
when they are all in full bloom. Can somebody describe it vividly please? Are the cherry blossoms (sakura) starting to bloom in Japan? I heard its a beautiful sight .....?
Not yet except in Okinawa. The Sakura blooms at different times depending on which part of JApan you're talking about. In Kyushu it starts mid-to-late March and in Tokyo and Kyoto region around the last week of March but it varies depending on the current weather conditions.

I think it's pas lilac season. They only bloom once a year and for a very short time.Anyone know how ot get lilacs to bloom,i am doig na project and this is driving me mad..?
Lilacs form their flower buds made by mid summer, the previous year. So if you pruned after that point, you may have cut off all the buds. Also the lilacs must have enough stored carbohydrates before they will set flower buds. If the plant was under stress last year prior to bud formation, say from exceissive pruning either in 2006 or early 2007, then the plant did not have enough store energy to make the flower buds. Finally winter care is important. Lilacs will tolerate quite cold temperatures but will not tolerate winter drying. If you had a dry winter and did not water, the buds may have died. The flower bud will be in the terminal bud, to most bud on the stems.....is it missing?

When does lilly of the valley bloom? Thanks to all that answer!?
April and May. That is my favorite flower. In Paris they have the festival for the Lily of the Valley on May 1st. I tried growing Lily of the Valley in Southern California but the heat and sun were just not good for the flower. It prefers a bit colder climates. When does lilly of the valley bloom? Thanks to all that answer!?
It usually flowers in late spring, though in mild winters it can bloom as early as March. When does lilly of the valley bloom? Thanks to all that answer!?
I am in Zone 7 and they just are coming up - they will bloom in April, normally, then fade during May/June as the heat comes up down here.

CAN ';Ranunculus'; flowers grow in New York?? If planted now, will they bloom this SUMMER??
And what type of soil do they prefer please??
I think I tried to plant these gorgeous flowers several yrs. ago, w/reg. top soil/full sun, and they were the only one's that didn't bloom in my whole garden. It was early spring too, when I planted them ....... was thinking perhaps the soil combo wasn't the best for them??
Please advise, thx!! :o)CAN ';Ranunculus'; flowers grow in New York?? If planted now, will they bloom this SUMMER??
these are very difficult to grow in the NY climate. they need a long cool growing season. Not too cold. Like in a San Fransisco winter and spring.
Your soil is not the problem. It is the temperature.
Ranunculus do not like it hot and in NY is just gets too hot too soon. It is better not to try to grow them in NY. sorry, because, yes, they are gorgeous!CAN ';Ranunculus'; flowers grow in New York?? If planted now, will they bloom this SUMMER??

I live in spain and have a flowering plant thats in full bloom at the moment?
trouble is, the leaves are turning yellow and dropping off, is this due to the amount of water ive been giving it?? i was also given a cala lily the other day with purple flowers, but its going droopy, whats wrong with it??I live in spain and have a flowering plant thats in full bloom at the moment?
The first question tells me you've overwatered it-- overwatering causes the roots to rot and doesn't allow oxygen to get too the roots--
the second tells me you've underwatered it.....
underwatering causes the plant to droop ( early stages) because the plant is mostly water.

Why didn't my bearded irises bloom?
I live in zone 7, and I planted these last fall. They all grew beautifully--tall spikey leaves--but only two bloomed. They get full sun, and I deeply water about twice each week. I know they're doing well as plants, I just want to see them bloom next year. Any suggestions? Why didn't my bearded irises bloom?
Take up all your irises and replant them. Check to see if you have Iris borers in the roots. Just squish them out if you do and dust your roots with a good powder insecticide. (use a plastic bag and just shake the rhizone with the power.) Replant by making a small mound and a small ditch on each side, over which you spread the roots. BE SURE you leave the crown of the root EXPOSED TO THE SUN. Do not allow grass or weeds to shade the crowns. Next year, you will have a bloom on every rhizone you plant. If your zone gets very cold, cover the planting with some leaves BUT remove them at the first sign of spring. Cut the leaves back in a fan ship every fall. Do not compost the leaves. Give them to the garbage guys or burn them. That kills the eggs of the iris borer. Why didn't my bearded irises bloom?
Bearded Irises like to be planted shallowly! Can you see some of the rhizome? Then they are at adequate level. If not they might be too deep. Deeply watering twice a week might not be enough. I had a client who watered a LOT(it was wet every time I was there). And she had these reblooming Irises that I divided twice a year they grew SO much. They bloomed like crazy. So, depending on your soil, maybe water 3 times a week. I have even seen them do well with half day sun. Any balanced fertilizer now through Spring would do.
Good luck :-)
seems like you over watered and the bulbs rotted or you didnt plant them deep enough and they froze.why not dig a few up and check. then again you may have planted them upside down.
I think you will have more blooms next year. You planted it last fall, right? If you planted it last spring or summer, you might've had more flowers this year. These guys need sometime for the roots to be established and get ready before blooming time, and in your case, it wasn't enough time for them to be ready. I know that the optimum time to transplant these irises is 6 weeks after the bloom, which is in the middle of summer usually, so they will have a plenty of time to be ready to get bloom next year. Also, you could try planting it in the light shade location. It can take full sun, but they don't want to be scorched, and you need to water more often as they love to drink water.

Why doesn't my rhododendron plant bloom?
It's planted in a large pot outdoors. It is growing, green and healthy, but has stopped blooming. I fertilized it with acid fertilizer in early spring. Why doesn't my rhododendron plant bloom?
Buy it an iPod and let it listen to La Mer by Claude Debussy....it worked on my pepper trees!!jrWhy doesn't my rhododendron plant bloom?
put it in the sun and water it alot-just dont drown it!!
d[-_-]b
perhaps you added too much fertiliser to the pot and the plant only wants to flower little and produce more foliage than flowers give it time if this is your first rhodo. give it one more year and if the problem is still occuring look into it some more.
Maybe it needs more sun or maybe the pot needs to be bigger.
You could add some potash to encourage flowering.

Greetings Sally,
I had a problem I believe that was similar to what you are going through. Perhaps your plant is suffering from Photo-trauma. It occurs in plans whenever they aren't subject to sunlight in the early stages of growing.

Need ideas for flowers for a SOUTH-facing windowbox that has some shade. They either wilt yellow or don't bloom
I'm from midwest (Ohio) and I've tried so many things to no avail. I even tried Impatiens, which likes alot of shade! Maybe I'm over-watering (?) but seems like every time I checked box for water is was bone dry. Any suggestions would be much appreciated...Need ideas for flowers for a SOUTH-facing windowbox that has some shade. They either wilt yellow or don't bloom
~ Do you have holes drilled in the bottom of the box for drainage? If not then it really sounds like soggy roots. One way to prevent this is instead of planting the plants right into the box, keep the plants in 6'; pots lined up in the box and fill in the spaces with moss or mulch. This allows the plants to drain and not get transplant shock.
The other way if you don't want to drill holes in the bottom is to take out the dirt and add at least 2'; of Styrofoam peanuts (not the biodegradable kind) or gravel to the bottom so that the water drains out of the soil and the roots won't get too soggy.
As for plants, Try a combination of Wave Petunias (Walmart and has them) which do well in partial shade and keep blooming all season long. They also will drape over the sides. Then add some light pink geraniums and a few marigolds for contrast. Some Miracle grow as they recommend will help as well.Need ideas for flowers for a SOUTH-facing windowbox that has some shade. They either wilt yellow or don't bloom
geraniums are pretty good, if you are planting in a box it will dry out quickly, so water away. Impatience can be difficult to grow sometimes. Begonia are also pretty hardy and keep on blooming.
good luck

We are moving to new home and I want to take slips of my lilac bush (which is in bloom) will it kill the bush?
Take as many as you want. Lilacs are pretty much indestructible. We are moving to new home and I want to take slips of my lilac bush (which is in bloom) will it kill the bush?
Lilacs are a very strong bush. You can take slips at any time, although the best is just after they have bloomed. You may want to also remember for the future pruning that the best time to do that is after they have bloomed. I like to put cheese cloth covers tied over the best blooms after they start drying up so as to get the best seeds for those at summers end. By the way after rooting your slips and when you get ready to plant them remember to put about a cup of uncooked oatmeal in the hole before placing the roots in and covering with soil. It will give the starter a good jump on the planting. Also prun back approx 70 % of it at summers end any time you want to spur a lot of new growth in the next spring. Remember that they need almost 100 % sun light if you want them to bloom! One neat combination is to plant them in an area of walnut trees. As these trees do not get there leaves until after the lilacs have bloomed. It makes people that know lilacs think that you know something they don't as everyone knows '; Lilacs will not bloom in the shade of trees!'; LOL Have fun with them...They ave very forgiving!!!!We are moving to new home and I want to take slips of my lilac bush (which is in bloom) will it kill the bush?

When do Crape Myrtles bloom in San Antonio, TX or zone 8?
Crepe Myrtles normally bloom in Late May.... They will bloom all summer long as long you remove the dead blooms from the plant.. in other words.. continue to remove the Seed Pods during the summer... and they will continue to bloom on the New wood that is formed....
I'm located in your Zone... trust me... May through September...When do Crape Myrtles bloom in San Antonio, TX or zone 8?
Sounds like you are getting conflicting answers. I can tell you this: I am looking out my window and the crepe myrtles are blooming furiously right now and have been blooming for several weeks. Usually they fade a little and then bloom again before the summer is over or in early fall. It is a very good landscape plant for summer color and they do well in the heat once established. When do Crape Myrtles bloom in San Antonio, TX or zone 8?
Crepe myrtles bloom late summer thru to early spring so different time of the year depending on your hemisphere

Hello, can anyone give me examples of flowering plants that bloom all year long and grow in arid regions?
like deserts for example??
thank you all for your timeHello, can anyone give me examples of flowering plants that bloom all year long and grow in arid regions?
There are three outstanding choices that give you year around flowers, or nearly so depending on how many frosty mornings you experience in winter. These are the backbone of the desert garden and will grow in less than ideal soils and in extreme heat and drought.
Autumn Sage Salvia greggi hybrids
This red flowered species native to the Southwest and Mexico has been bred into a variety of luscious colors, each a different named hybrid. This is one of the most beautiful semiwoody perennials that are the strongest of all hummingbird lures.
Yellow Bells Tecoma stans
You will find these big rangy shrubs growing in the dry washes of the American southwest where they thrive under brutal conditions. In the garden this plant is out of bloom for just a few weeks over winter, then offers large yellow trumpets throughout the remainder of the year. Big, rangy and drought resistant as they come, it's not planted as often as it should.
Lantana hybrids
Species of Lantana native to South America have been bred to produce some truly rugged heavy bloomers. This is one of the few plants with flower clusters featuring three or more colors in one. They are also hummingbird magnets that bloom even better in the hottest days of summer. Spreading and very fast growing, they make exceptional fillers and border plants.
See photos and learn more about each of these plants with the links below.Hello, can anyone give me examples of flowering plants that bloom all year long and grow in arid regions?
Desert? What zone? What sea level? USA or Mexico or Africa?
High Desert (like around upper San Bernardino County California or Northern Arizona and Northern New Mexico???), Low Desert (like Palm Springs CA, Tucson Arizona or Northern Coast of Africa around Morocco and east of there)??
Note: Oleander is grown all over Southern California (zones 8-10), especially along street edges in the cities and in desert area like San Bernardino and Palm Springs. Needs some water.
The obvious answer is cacti but I can suggest mesambryanthemum too.
You haven't said if it will get water at all.
I have put a couple of links for you to get an idea of the plant.
Euryops pectinatus are low water, and pretty hardy, bloom all year.
thank you all for your timeHello, can anyone give me examples of flowering plants that bloom all year long and grow in arid regions?

When is the best time to prune rose bushes that bloom all summer long?
My roses are pruned when I see dead limbs any time of year. This reduces the stress on the rose. If you need to keep it trimmed for size its better to prune in dormant state.
Banana peelings make Roses do really good. I also found that a dab of Ivory dish soap diluted ..so its mild, will keep the Japanese beetles from feeding on them. These insects will prune for you if not watching your roses.
You can prune in the spring if when you check the rose and find dead limbs on it.
Leaves used as fall mulch will help them thrive. When is the best time to prune rose bushes that bloom all summer long?
Try Shaklee's product Basic H for all pests %26amp; insects including mosquito repellant ...dilute in water %26amp; mist or use full strength 4 problems with chiggers.. a nice bath soap when your done outside.
Mom used to dishpan wash dishes and we tossed the dishwater out on grape harbor and rose bushes.. Report Abuse
When is the best time to prune rose bushes that bloom all summer long?
in the fall before the first freeze
Have often heard that January is the best time. Get your fertilizer ready as roses are heavy 'feeders'.
it's best to prune them as the flowers die off. once all the blooms are gone prune the whole bush before the rosehips grow
In the fall when the bush has stopped blooming
A heavy pruning, back to just canes, in the fall after the growing season. Prune or deadhead, all summer long to encourage new flowers. I use them for cut flowers and bring them in.
February is best time to prune roses.
Below is the link to a Free ebook you can download that tells you everything about growing and maintenance of roses.

Will my flower seedlings bloom after the rabbits have eaten all the tops off of them?
It depends on the flower. I mow my mums when they look nasty, and they come right back. Will my flower seedlings bloom after the rabbits have eaten all the tops off of them?
They should because the seeds are still planted in the ground (right?).
They just have to stary over again and keep those rabbits away from you seedlings.
