The National Park Service has predicted the peak bloom range for 2008 as March 27-April 3. Most festival events are free and open to the public; the blossoms themselves are free for the viewing and the trees are mostly around the National Mall and Tidal Basin (Jefferson Memorial) ... best to Metro down there and anticipate huge crowds. When will the cherry blossoms bloom in washington, dc?
My friend who works/lives there said that she noticed the trees were budding and looking very pretty last week. . . we're going in a few days so I imagine they should either in full bloom or almost full bloom next week!
we were there Sunday.. give it a week and they will be in full bloom so long as it doesn't get so windy they are all blown away( Sakura are extremely delicate)
The Tidal basin has the largest concentration of them, but t here are others scattered along the mall. No fee.
i went once in likeee late april early may of 2003 and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom theyre really pretty
I am planning to go there this Saturday. For those who work/live at Washington DC, can you please tell me the current situation of the Cherry Blossom? thanks very much!
Some are already in bloom around town. The peak is predicted by Park Service to be March 27th to April 3rd. The festival is Mar 29 to April 13th. The blooms are of course subject to weather, wind, etc.
There's no viewing fee. They're all in public places along the Mall, Potomac River, Tidal Basin (best spot), and around town.
now. and its free
